Tesla's 'We, Robot' Event
Nobel Prizes go to Computer Scientists. Everybody wants Blackwell AI.
What I have seen on tonight’s ‘We, Robot‘ event felt impossible.
The future is here, and it will look like the future.
I have cut out the top demos from the event: videos.
Other trends not to miss:
AI indispensable in scientific research → see Nobel prizes
The need for computational power will continue, with everyone seeking Nvidia's Blackwell AI
Tesla & Elon Musk just had their ‘We, Robot’ event: The Top Demos
Long-term everyone will have an Optimus robot for around $20k - $30k. Eventually, there will be more robots than humans, according to Elon.
They will be walking our dogs, watching our kids, bringing us drinks, and can be essentially like friends. Think R2D2, or 3CPO.
Showing is better than telling. These are the highlights of the event.
Optimus the bartender.
Or have a casual conversation with it.
The Tesla Robotaxi is real and works. It will be in production in 2026.
They have also built a Tesla Robovan. When production starts was less concrete, but it will host up to 20 people.
Lastly, Tesla plans a fully autonomous driving launch in Texas and California in 2025.
[Last episode, I showed how to implement AI calls. With Synthflow, you get a no-code option: a low flat fee for AI to speak for your organization.]
Synthflow: Build AI voice assistants to manage inbound and outbound calls
Keep your business on 24/7 with genAI. Synthflow’s simple no-code builder lets you set up human-sounding AI voice assistants that can handle call center tasks: real-time appointment booking, lead qualification, handling FAQ, transferring between agents, and more. White label included. Pay as low as $0.08 per minute of conversation. CRM Integrations with Hubspot, Gohighlevel, Zoho, etc. Start for free or let us build your AI receptionist.
The Nobel Prize in Physics goes to Computer Scientist - Geoffrey Hinton
Geoffrey Hinton and John Hopfield won the Nobel Prize in Physics for pioneering work with neural networks. Hinton, known as the "godfather of AI," is the first recipient without a physics background.1
His speech: priceless.
He thanked his students, i.e. Ilya Sutskever, for firing Sam Altman, and warned about the dangers of AI.
Geoffrey Hinton says he is particularly proud that one of his students fired Sam Altman because Sam is much less concerned with AI safety than with profits

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry goes to Computer Scientist - Demis Hassabis
Demis Hassabis, John Jumper, and David Baker won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, with half of the 11 million kronor ($1.06 million) prize awarded to Hassabis and Jumper for protein structure prediction.
Their AI model, AlphaFold2, solved a 50-year challenge. Instead of a whole PhD, it now takes a couple of minutes to find a protein structure.
What does this mean?
In the modern age of AI, disciplinary boundaries are blurred. In non-computer-science sciences, if you want to provide meaningful value, chances are you have to embrace AI - even be an expert. AI is now foundational.
'Everybody Wants to Be First': Nvidia CEO Says Demand for Its Blackwell AI Chip Is 'Insane'
The demand for computing is far from over and will dominate the next decade.
Why? Because advancing computer intelligence requires scaling models from trillions to quadrillions, or even quintillions, of trainable parameters. These models need more data—mostly synthetic—resulting in a computational power demand driven by model size and training data.
In response, Nvidia developed the Blackwell chip, the most powerful AI chip on the market, priced between $30,000 and $40,000 each.
Can you feel the acceleration?
The demand for these new chips is high, but why actually? They not only offer the best energy efficiency (electricity consumption per FLOP matters) but also position AI companies as cutting-edge users of top-tier GPUs.
All of this leads to an increase in energy demand.
Zap Energy's Century prototype aims to meet these needs with clean, limitless fusion power using a Z-pinch method (compress plasma and achieve fusion). If successful, it could sustainably power AI data centers, though challenges in consistency, durability, and long-term viability remain.
That’s a wrap! I hope you enjoyed it.
